Who we are

Building an African-led international news organisation

The world is paying greater attention to Africa and the Caribbean, yet many stories from these regions continue to be interpreted from outside. Africa Analytical exists to help change that.

We bring together journalists, researchers, analysts, photographers, filmmakers, data specialists and community experts who understand the societies they report. Our journalism combines local knowledge with continental and global analysis.

We report the events shaping governments, economies, institutions, cultures and communities while placing African and Caribbean voices, knowledge and public interests at the centre of international reporting.

Our audiences include general readers, media organisations, policymakers, businesses, researchers, civil-society institutions and diaspora communities seeking dependable information and deeper understanding.

Direction and purpose

Our vision and mission

The following statements define the future Africa Analytical seeks to build and the work through which it will pursue that future.

01

02

Mission

To produce and distribute verified news, evidence-based analysis, investigative reporting, multimedia journalism and professional media intelligence through regional knowledge, rigorous editorial standards, diverse expertise and innovative digital platforms serving the public, publishers, institutions and decision-makers.

Editorial character

Our values and journalistic principles

Every report, image, interview, dataset and briefing should protect reader trust.

Independence

Editorial decisions are not controlled by governments, political parties, advertisers or private interests.

Fairness

We seek relevant perspectives, offer a right of response and distinguish evidence from allegation.

Context

We explain the historical, political, social and economic forces behind events rather than repeating headlines.

Human dignity

We report conflict, poverty, tragedy and vulnerability without dehumanising individuals or communities.

Public interest

Our priority is information that helps people understand power, institutions, risks, opportunities and public choices.

Institutional accountability

Governance of Africa Analytical

  • Commercial partners cannot approve, suppress or rewrite journalism.
  • Sponsored content must be clearly labelled.
  • News, analysis, opinion and institutional editorials must be distinguished.
  • Relevant financial and personal interests must be disclosed.
